Luke 6:1-11 - Jesus is Lord of…

Life Lesson (verse Luke 6:4)

Failure to examine Scripture and incorporate its relevance for our lives will leave our soul in an agitated state towards the things of God.

Life Lesson (verse Luke 6:4)

When we choose to become passionate about the Lord, we begin to put tradition aside and to see Him more intimately.

Life Lesson (verse Luke 6:7)

When we prepare our hearts and give of ourselves to serve the Lord, we are able to minister to the needs of others on behalf of Jesus.

Life Lesson (verse Luke 6:9)

In choosing to do good within the context of the commands of Christ, you may be the answer to someone’s spiritual needs today.

Mark 2:27 NKJV

And He said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.

James 1:19-22 NKJV

19 So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; 20 for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.  21 Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.  22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

Matt 12:5-7 NKJV

5 Or have you not read in the law that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple [a]profane the Sabbath, and are blameless? 6 Yet I say to you that in this place there is One greater than the temple. 7 But if you had known what this means, ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the guiltless.

Matt 15:1-9 NLT

1 Some Pharisees and teachers of religious law now arrived from Jerusalem to see Jesus. They asked him, 2 “Why do your disciples disobey our age-old tradition? For they ignore our tradition of ceremonial hand washing before they eat.”
3 Jesus replied, “And why do you, by your traditions, violate the direct commandments of God? 4 For instance, God says, ‘Honor your father and mother,’[a] and ‘Anyone who speaks disrespectfully of father or mother must be put to death.’ 5 But you say it is all right for people to say to their parents, ‘Sorry, I can’t help you. For I have vowed to give to God what I would have given to you.’ 6 In this way, you say they don’t need to honor their parents. And so you cancel the word of God for the sake of your own tradition. 7 You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you, for he wrote,
8  ‘These people honor me with their lips,     but their hearts are far from me.
9 Their worship is a farce,     for they teach man-made ideas as commands from God.’”

2 Tim 3:16-17 NKJV

16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for [c]instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Hosea 6:6 NKJV

For I desire mercy and not sacrifice,
And the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

Gal 6:2 AMP

Carry one another’s burdens and in this way you will fulfill the requirements of the law of Christ [that is, the law of Christian love].

Matt 12:35-37 AMP

35 The good man, from his [inner] good treasure, brings out good things; and the evil man, from his [inner] evil treasure, brings out evil things. 36 But I tell you, on the day of judgment people will have to give an accounting for every careless or useless word they speak. 37 For by your words[reflecting your spiritual condition] you will be justified and acquitted of the guilt of sin; and by your words [rejecting Me] you will be condemned and sentenced.”
