Exodus 32 - Overcoming Strongholds

Life Lesson (verse Exodus 32:3)

You know what you worship by where your treasure is placed.  What you give your time, talent, and treasure to shows you where your heart is.

Life Lesson (verse Exodus 32:4)

We can avoid the subtleties of sin and Satan by studying how to apply His word in the Spirit.

Life Lesson (verse Exodus 32:14)

The tearing down of strongholds begins with having God’s heart for people who are given over to strongholds.

Life Lesson (verse Exodus 32:20)

Seeing and experiencing the consequences for sin should cause us to want to turn away from it.

Life Lesson (verse Exodus 32:25)

We need to come completely clean with our sins and strongholds in our life, not excusing them.

Life Lesson (verse Exodus 32:28)

Being on the Lord’s side means siding against living for our flesh and those who are not siding with Him.

Life Lesson (verse Exodus 32:35)

God always makes a way for us to escape when tempted.

2 Cor 10:4-6 NKJV

4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,

Matt 6:19-21 NKJV

19 "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal;  20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.  21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Mal 1:7-8 NKJV

7 "You offer defiled food on My altar,
But say,
'In what way have we defiled You?'
By saying,
'The table of the Lord is contemptible.'
8 And when you offer the blind as a sacrifice,
Is it not evil?
And when you offer the lame and sick,
Is it not evil?
Offer it then to your governor!
Would he be pleased with you?
Would he accept you favorably?"
Says the Lord of hosts.

Ex 9:18-21 NKJV

18 Behold, tomorrow about this time I will cause very heavy hail to rain down, such as has not been in Egypt since its founding until now. 19 Therefore send now and gather your livestock and all that you have in the field, for the hail shall come down on every man and every animal which is found in the field and is not brought home; and they shall die."'" 20 He who feared the word of the Lord among the servants of Pharaoh made his servants and his livestock flee to the houses. 21 But he who did not regard the word of the Lord left his servants and his livestock in the field.

Ex 34:12-16 NKJV

12 Take heed to yourself, lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land where you are going, lest it be a snare in your midst. 13 But you shall destroy their altars, break their sacred pillars, and cut down their wooden images 14 (for you shall worship no other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God), 15 lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they play the harlot with their gods and make sacrifice to their gods, and one of them invites you and you eat of his sacrifice, 16 and you take of his daughters for your sons, and his daughters play the harlot with their gods and make your sons play the harlot with their gods.

1 Thess 4:3-5 NKJV

3 For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; 4 that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, 5 not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God;

being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;

Isa 44:18-20 NLT

18 Such stupidity and ignorance! Their eyes are closed, and they cannot see. Their minds are shut, and they cannot think. 19 The person who made the idol never stops to reflect, "Why, it's just a block of wood!  I burned half of it for heat and used it to bake my bread and roast my meat. How can the rest of it be a god? Should I bow down to worship a piece of wood?" 20 The poor, deluded fool feeds on ashes. He trusts something that can't help him at all.  Yet he cannot bring himself to ask, "Is this idol that I'm holding in my hand a lie?"

Matt 21:44 NKJV

And whoever falls on this stone will be broken; but on whomever it falls, it will grind him to powder."

Rom 1:32 NKJV

who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.

Deut 9:19-20 NKJV

19 For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure with which the Lord was angry with you, to destroy you. But the Lord listened to me at that time also. 20 And the Lord was very angry with Aaron and would have destroyed him; so I prayed for Aaron also at the same time.

1 Sam 3:12-13 NKJV

12 In that day I will perform against Eli all that I have spoken concerning his house, from beginning to end. 13 For I have told him that I will judge his house forever for the iniquity which he knows, because his sons made themselves vile, and he did not restrain them.

Prov 13:24 NKJV

He who spares his rod hates his son,
But he who loves him disciplines him promptly.

Col 3:5-7 NKJV

5 Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. 6 Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, 7 in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them.

1 Cor 10:6-13 NLT

6 These things happened as a warning to us, so that we would not crave evil things as they did, 7 or worship idols as some of them did. As the Scriptures say, "The people celebrated with feasting and drinking, and they indulged in pagan revelry." 8 And we must not engage in sexual immorality as some of them did, causing 23,000 of them to die in one day.
9 Nor should we put Christ to the test, as some of them did and then died from snakebites. 10 And don't grumble as some of them did, and then were destroyed by the angel of death. 11 These things happened to them as examples for us. They were written down to warn us who live at the end of the age.
12 If you think you are standing strong, be careful not to fall. 13 The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.
