Leviticus 11 - Building a Holy Life

Life Lesson (verse Leviticus 11)

• We are stewards of physical bodies just like everything else God has given us. • What you can control about your health, God’s expects you to control as a good steward.

Life Lesson (verse Leviticus 11)

As Christians we should work to build our belief in the inspiration of and our knowledge of God’s word. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 – the God-breathed Word Ephesians 6:17 – sword of the spirit is the Word of God

Life Lesson (verse Leviticus 11)

God instructs and encourages us NOT to mix with that part of culture which is not consistent with the direction of God’s Word. It is our job individually to carry that out and part of our witness to culture of our faith in Jesus Christ.

I Corinthians 11:24, 30 NKJV

24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”
40 For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep.

You are a steward of the body God gave you

For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.

4 Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

Gallup poll, 5/15/2017

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- "Fewer than one in four Americans (24%) now believe the Bible is "the actual word of God, and is to be taken literally, word for word," similar to the 26% who view it as "a book of fables, legends, history and moral precepts recorded by man." This is the first time in Gallup's four-decade trend that biblical literalism has not surpassed biblical skepticism. Meanwhile, about half of Americans -- a proportion largely unchanged over the years -- fall in the middle, saying the Bible is the inspired word of God but that not all of it should be taken literally."

Leviticus 11:44-45 NKJV

44 For I am the Lord your God. You shall therefore consecrate yourselves, and you shall be holy; for I am holy. Neither shall you defile yourselves with any creeping thing that creeps on the earth. 45 For I am the Lord who brings you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God. You shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.

Leviticus 20:7-8 NKJV

7 Consecrate yourselves therefore, and be holy, for I am the Lord your God. 8 And you shall keep My statutes, and perform them: I am the Lord who sanctifies you.

Leviticus 20:7 Set yourselves apart for the Lord
Leviticus 20:8 sets you apart

Joshua 23:12-13 NKJV

12 Or else, if indeed you do go back, and cling to the remnant of these nations—these that remain among you—and make marriages with them, and go in to them and they to you, 13 know for certain that the Lord your God will no longer drive out these nations from before you. But they shall be snares and traps to you, and scourges on your sides and thorns in your eyes, until you perish from this good land which the Lord your God has given you.

1 Corinthians 1:30-31 NKJV

30 But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption— 31 that, as it is written, “He who glories, let him glory in the Lord.”

1 Thessalonians 4:1-5 NKJV

1 Finally then, brethren, we urge and exhort in the Lord Jesus that you should abound more and more, just as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God; 2 for you know what commandments we gave you through the Lord Jesus. 3 For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; 4 that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, 5 not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God;

Luke 4:6 NKJV

And the devil said to Him, “All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish.

Ephesians 2:2 NKJV

in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience,

1 Corinthians 5:9-10 NKJV

9 I wrote to you in my epistle not to keep company with sexually immoral people. 10 Yet I certainly did not mean with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world.
