Leviticus 24 - God’s Presence and Name

Life Lesson (verse Leviticus 24)

Where am I with respect to my attitude toward God’s Word being truth? We as Christians have to continue to build God’s word as our light, our only rule of faith and practice.

Life Lesson (verse Leviticus 24)

What things do you have/use in your everyday life that call you to remember God’s Word or what God has done for you? How are you passing to the next generation (and the next) your attitude toward God’s Word?

Life Lesson (verse Leviticus 24)

As Christians we should be consistently striving for greater service, greater maturity.

Life Lesson (verse Leviticus 24)

As Christians we should only use God’s name for prayer, praise, invocation, and thanksgiving.

Life Lesson (verse Leviticus 24)

The bottom line is that we as Christians are individually responsible for what we do and why we do it for which we will give an account – at which time there will be no excuses, no justifications, only personal responsibility.

Numbers 8:2-4 NKJV

2 “Speak to Aaron, and say to him, ‘When you arrange the lamps, the seven lamps shall give light in front of the lampstand.’ ” 3 And Aaron did so; he arranged the lamps to face toward the front of the lampstand, as the Lord commanded Moses. 4 Now this workmanship of the lampstand was hammered gold; from its shaft to its flowers it was hammered work. According to the pattern which the Lord had shown Moses, so he made the lampstand.

Exodus 27:20-21 NKJV

20 “And you shall command the children of Israel that they bring you pure oil of pressed olives for the light, to cause the lamp to burn continually. 21 In the tabernacle of meeting, outside the veil which is before the Testimony, Aaron and his sons shall tend it from evening until morning before the Lord. It shall be a statute forever to their generations on behalf of the children of Israel.

Psalm 119:105 NKJV

Your word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path.

Proverbs 6:23 NKJV

For the commandment is a lamp,
And the law a light;
Reproofs of instruction are the way of life,

Exodus 25:30

And you shall set the showbread on the table before Me always.
NKJV

Hebrew – ‘lechem ha-panim’ – literally ‘bread of the faces’
‘You shall set the bread of the Presence on the table before Me at all times.’ (NASB 1995)

Luke 22:19-20 NKJV

19 And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” 20 Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.

1 Corinthians 11:26-30 NKJV

26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes. 27 Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the  Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. 28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. 29 For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. 30 For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep.

1 Corinthians 15:58 NKJV

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

Exodus 20:7 NKJV
“You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.
Deuteronomy 5:11 NKJV
You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him [a]guiltless who takes His name in vain.
NKJV

Purposes for using God’s name – invocation, prayer, praise, thanksgiving

Philippians 2:9-10 NKJV

9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,

1 Corinthians 15:24-28 NKJV

24 Then comes the end, when He delivers the kingdom to God the Father, when He puts an end to all rule and all authority and power. 25 For He must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet. 26 The last enemy that will be destroyed is death. 27 For “He has put all things under His feet.” But when He says “all things are put under Him,it is evident that He who put all things under Him is excepted. 28 Now when all things are made subject to Him, then the Son Himself will also be subject to Him who put all things under Him, that God may be all in all.

Romans 14:10-12 NKJV

10 But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you show contempt for your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. 11 For it is written:
As I live, says the Lord,
Every knee shall bow to Me,
And every tongue shall confess to God.”
12 So then each of us shall give account of himself to God.
