An awareness of Jesus Christ’s return and seeing him face-to-face elevates our daily tasks to eternal significance.

The realization that we as mortals own nothing, are stewards of everything, is a milestone in Christian life. What God is interested in is the quality of our stewardship.

In their streets they will clothe themselves with sackcloth;
On the tops of their houses
And in their streets
Everyone will wail, weeping bitterly

Then the king of Assyria carried Israel away captive to Assyria, and put them in Halah and by the Habor, the River of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes, because they did not obey the voice of the Lord their God, but transgressed His covenant and all that Moses the servant of the Lord had commanded; and they would neither hear nor do them.
 

The Lord was with him; he prospered wherever he went. And he rebelled against the king of Assyria and did not serve him.  And in the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah, Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the fortified cities of Judah and took them.

If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable.
If, in the manner of men, I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what advantage is it to me? If the dead do not rise, “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!"

He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much. Therefore if you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches
